Ok. I have a new list of Thai places that I must visit and sample their drunken noodle.
Dok Bua Thai Kitchen in Coolidge Corner
Sugar and Spice in Porter Square
9 Tastes in Harvard Square

Who wants to come try them out with me?? I’m also always up for a trip to the king [...]

…Beautiful 9 ounce baby! A real live baby! Today was our 18 week ultrasound and we got our first glimpse of our cute little Sprout. Seeing is believing. Now we know that it wasn’t just a case of too much drunken noodle! Our little Sprout is actually not so little – relatively speaking, of course. [...]
A Good Laugh

I have seen this video a hundred times, but it still makes me laugh. Many of you have probably already seen it, but it is just what the doctor ordered to help get through the Friday work day. It’s also a good reason to not have more than one child. Although, if Abby and I [...]
Drunken noodle redux

In the past few weeks I have conducted a highly scientific study of Thai food in the Cambridge area, in particular, of the drunken noodle dish. I have come to the following conclusions:
Montien’s drunken noodle wasn’t very spicy (at *all*), and lacked on noodle, actually. I think there were only 3 noodles in [...]
Cake

My friend Adrienne sent me the link to the blog Cake Wrecks today, which made me laugh so hard I cried. Of particular disturbing-ness are the baby shower cakes, like this one, or this creepy specimen.
eta: This cake has nothing to do with babies, but it’s awesome. Actually, most of the cakes under [...]

I can’t believe we’re in the end of July already — time is absolutely flying by. And we’re already at 17 weeks! Sprout is now about 5 inches long and weighs about 5 ounces. that’s the weight of a turnip, apparently. The food-sized baby starts to stray now, it seems, and they’re picking food that [...]

So I’m posting this: Win a Bum Genius 3.0 Starter Kit from Nature’s Child – Wholesome Goods for Mothers and Babies.
I really want to win. I like winning. And I like free things. If it’s free, take more, I say.
We’re going to be doing cloth diapers anyway, but free is good. We’re actually planning on [...]
Hawaii

So I was offered a speaking thing at the Hawaiian Librarian Association. In HAWAII. Where Tiny Erin Cozens(tm) lives. Free flight, free hotel. Free Hawaiian vacation! Except that it’s in the very end of October. When I will be 32 weeks pregnant. Which means though technically, I can still fly, I’d be very big, very [...]

Yesterday marked Sprout’s 16th week. This week Sprout is about the size of an avocado – 3.5 ounces and 4 1/2 inches from head to rump. I am including a picture for the more visually-inclined and some avocado “fun facts” for your inner-dork. Enjoy!
Fact: Avocados are a fruit, not a vegetable
Fact: Avocado is fun to [...]
still beating

We just got back from an appointment with the midwife. All is well, Sprout still has a strong fast heartbeat (a little bit slower than last time – around 155 this time). Three weeks from today, we have the u/s and finally find out whether it’s a she-sprout or a he-sprout!
And I want an egg [...]
