9 months

Today marks 36 weeks — 9 months down. But you see, the cruel trick of pregnancy is that it’s actually 10 months (40 weeks). Oh, the mind games. But the stitches come out in two days (and I don’t really care that it’ll be a few days before I reach full term [...]

There’s a thread on one of LibraryThing’s message boards with the title “Suggest a name for Abby’s baby“.  No joke.  There are literary suggestions (Seamus Murakami Blachly), book ones (Tomes, or by people wishing he was a girl: Tara Paige Blachly, Paige Turner Blachly), library ones (Dewey Decimal Blachly).  But no one’s come close to guessing [...]

10 days

That’s right, I’m getting the cerclage removed on December 2nd–in 10 days.  Since there’s a significant chance I’ll also go into labor when the stitches come out, that also means Sprout could be here in 10 days.  They do the surgery actually in Labor & Delivery, and they’ll keep me there for a few hours [...]

33 weeks

Only three weeks until the cerclage stitches come out!  That means the kid could be here in 3 weeks.  Ridiculous.  Sometime in the next 3-7 weeks.  At any rate, we’re at 33 weeks now, Sprout is about 5 1/2 pounds and just over 17 inches long.  And I’m pretty sure he’s not deaf.
My mom says [...]

I have been waiting for this day for far too long and as I write this, Barack has 174 votes to McCain’s 64 – nice! Not to get ahead of myself, but things are looking good. What a relief. AND Democrats have a Senate majority – sweet!
While Abby and I are enjoying ourselves with some [...]

So we just found out that we saw our maternal-fetal medicine specialist for the last time today.  We like him.  He sewed me up many moons ago, and gave me ultrasounds every week for a very long time and of course, he smells nice.  And then after today’s 32 week ultrasound, he stuck out his [...]
