Just wait till he refuses to eat unless he's holding the spoon. ;) We didn't manage to hold out for six months with Ollie - at four months he was desperately trying to get at our food and *always* hungry, so we gave him some rice cereal. He was a different baby overnight! (i.e. no more 8-hour long screaming sessions) Sebastian ate anything and everything without complaint up until 18 months, then started to get fussy. He's improving a bit now, but still doesn't like anything spicy. He’s gorgeous! Just wait till he refuses to eat unless he’s holding the spoon. ;)

In the UK libraries give you a freebie bag just after birth (which health visitors give out), another one at about a year and then a Treasure Chest at about 3 or 4 if you're registered (I'm holding out for the Treasure Chest). The aim was to raise literacy levels in areas where children don't necessarily have books at home. My health visitor said there's been debate about how useful it is because the families that take full advantage of it tend to be 'book people' anyway but if it catches any youngsters that wouldn't otherwise get reading exposure then it's OK by me.
