I haven’t been having contractions in the text-book sense, but I’ve been having horrible cramps and lower back pain for the last 2 days. So yesterday I decided to do my best to speed things up. By walking the baby out. I probably walked about 2 1/2 miles yesterday – more than [...]

Winter wonderland

I have a confession to make. I *love* snowstorms. That’s probably helped by several factors, like the fact that I work from home, don’t have a car, and am seriously too pregnant to even have to help shovel the few feet of sidewalk we’re responsible for. But I love them. Especially when everything’s all quiet [...]

We’re cranky. It’s a cranky household. Reasons include:
1. Sprout is still on the inside
2. Snowstorm on the way – a lot of snow and cold
3. Stress…come on out already
And, here’s the real kicker
4. Our landlord wants to sell the house
Number four is the real reason we’re cranky. Not exactly a good time to receive the [...]

I’ve decided to start collecting hospital bracelets. Luckily for me, this means all I have to do is keep getting admitted to the hospital!
Early this morning we had our weekly normal pregnant lady prenatal appointment with the midwife. When the nurse took my blood pressure, it was pretty high. So at the end of the [...]
37 Weeks

There is not much to report other than Sprout reaching 37 weeks, which officially marks full term. Sprout would no longer be a preemie if he were born now. We were hoping that he was just waiting to hit 37 weeks before coming out, but he is still in. We also thought that he may [...]

The stitches came out today, but Sprout stayed in. Guess he’s not quite ready to come out. After the surgery, however, the doctor told us that Abby’s cervix is 50% effaced and 2cm dilated! At least it’s a start. Abby had contractions for a few hours after surgery that were so minor she couldn’t feel [...]
9 months

Today marks 36 weeks — 9 months down. But you see, the cruel trick of pregnancy is that it’s actually 10 months (40 weeks). Oh, the mind games. But the stitches come out in two days (and I don’t really care that it’ll be a few days before I reach full term [...]
LibraryThing plays pick the baby name

There’s a thread on one of LibraryThing’s message boards with the title “Suggest a name for Abby’s baby“. No joke. There are literary suggestions (Seamus Murakami Blachly), book ones (Tomes, or by people wishing he was a girl: Tara Paige Blachly, Paige Turner Blachly), library ones (Dewey Decimal Blachly). But no one’s come close to guessing [...]
10 days

That’s right, I’m getting the cerclage removed on December 2nd–in 10 days. Since there’s a significant chance I’ll also go into labor when the stitches come out, that also means Sprout could be here in 10 days. They do the surgery actually in Labor & Delivery, and they’ll keep me there for a few hours [...]

That’s only 39 days till our due date. And I’m still hoping he’ll come early, since this whole trying-to-shove-his-butt-under-my-ribcage business isn’t pleasant. I mean, it just won’t fit, and he doesn’t seem to get that. But persistent and stubborn, that’s our kid, apparently. Our huge kid — he’s probably about 6 pounds [...]
